Wood

Monte wooden surf and paddle boards are handmade and traditionally built using repurposed timber and veneer from a number of reliable sources in the South West of England where Roman Rodriguez - founder and chief builder lives and works.

Almost all of the wood and veneer used is recycled or repurposed
... sizing can be sporadic...
so the HEX design was created to make use of the smaller pieces ...

Each board is drawn up, cut and built by hand, with equal focus on weight, surfability and durability ... a labour of love!

Epoxy

Following trials with various other options Monte uses @ecopoxyresin.
EcoPoxy is a Canadian farm-based company that produces bio-based epoxies to inspire & empower woodworkers and artists to create beautiful workpieces.

The wood and veneer used on a Monte board is all recycled or repurposed, so weighing that up against a traditional foam board clearly they are less harmful.

Having said that we are always looking out for alternate resin technology, as well as the best waves around.
